Assistant Scientist, Trauma Research

The Division of Trauma Research is looking for a full time Assistant Scientist to conduct research on the role of the ubiquitin proteasome system in immune modulation and metabolism following tissue injury. The successful candidate will design, execute and trouble shoot experiments independently. The Assistant Scientist will perform routine laboratory procedures, including maintenance of records and calculation of results for publication. This individual will prepare manuscripts and present at meetings. This position will supervise and train a research associate and also medical students.
Minimum qualifications include a MD or PhD in Biological or Physiological Sciences plus one year of postdoctoral experience. An appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.

A Postdoctoral position is available in a cardiac development laboratory in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at The Miller School of Medicine.
Our lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of heart valve development and adult disease using in vitro and in vivo assays. Research activities in our lab include PCR analysis, gene cloning, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, tissue culture (transfections, primary cell culture) and animal model systems.

Postdoctoral position to study ion channels involved in touch perception and neurodegeneration
Our laboratory uses genetic, molecular, behavioral, electrophysiological and imaging approaches to study the role of ion channels in sensory perception and neuronal death in Caenorhabditis elegans and mammalian systems.
Applicant should have a PhD in physiology, neuroscience, genetics, cell biology or related fields. Experience using C. elegans as a model organism is a plus. A Postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Ophthalmology McKnight Vision Research Center. The candidate will join an on-going project to identify antigens as disease biomarkers. The candidate will also participate in other related research projects to discover and characterize novel protein targets by phage display technology.
Previous trainings and laboratory experience in molecular biology and cell biology are preferred. The research activities for the selected candidate will include phage library screening, various assays for antigen-antibody interaction, PCR, subcloning, recombinant protein expression and purification, functional characterization, etc. The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree with the ability to work independently and good English communication skills (both verbal and written).
