elcome to Interview Day! You've passed one hurdle in the application process and now we'd like to meet you in person, and show you all that our school has to offer in helping you attain your goals in biomedical research. From the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis to the Diabetes Research Institute to the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute and Miami Institute for Human Genomics, our world-renowned institutions have exciting opportunities for you to take part in cutting edge research.

Interview Day is an opportunity for us to learn more about prospective applicants and to allow applicants to learn more about our biomedical research programs and training opportunities. Applicants will be scheduled to interview with faculty members for a meeting that usually lasts approximately 45 minutes. In an informal and relaxed gathering, applicants will also meet with the "IBS family" consisting of the director and coordinator, current students, and alumni. Later, in an hour-long seminar presented by one of our recent graduates, opportunity is provided to learn about life as a doctoral student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and what it is like transitioning into a postdoctoral position at another institution. Smooth Sailing: From the University of Miami to Harvard

Listen and ask questions as Matthew E. Pipkin, Ph.D., a 2006 graduate from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, relates his experiences as a doctoral student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In this hour-long seminar Matthew will also tell what it was like transitioning into a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School CBR Institute for Biomedical Research, where he is now studying transciptional regulation in T cells. |
