Program Overview

The Interdisciplinary Biomedical Studies (IBS) admissions option allows students to spend their first year in a multidisciplinary environment before selecting a specific Ph.D. program in which to train. Students selecting this option will undertake an interdisciplinary core curriculum emphasizing the fundamentals of modern molecular and cellular biology. Research opportunities are available in more than 150 graduate faculty laboratories. At the end of the first year, IBS students select a doctoral program for the completion of their degree requirements.
